Artist's Description
"Marking the Kill" is the first painting in a series called Beauties and Beasts, each of which will feature women with creatures large and small, in scenes fantastical and diverse. This first piece depicts a huntress with gilded, stylized angel wings and an oversized, antique-looking pistol. She has just brought down a massive beast, for reasons we can only guess at. While she seems subdued following the kill, behind her, the cherubic, flying teddy bears that serve as her "hunting dogs" gleefully "mark" the kill.
